The good news is that fixing this issue requires very little effort on your end as a blogger or website owner. All you need to do is switch your browser setting to another available language option like German, Spanish, French or Italian... yes, even if all you plan on doing is looking at some articles written in English!


The reason for this article is not only because I have such a soft spot for languages other than English (and especially because my wife is from Italy). Those who blog about marketing topics, whether they are selling their own products or reviewing them for others, should understand how changing their home country from US-only search results can greatly increase the success of their posts and discussions with potential viewers.


This guide will help you jumpstart your blogging career by outlining what effective communication with an online audience looks like. It will also explain why many bloggers tend again to private blogs instead of creating posts in public spaces where readers may be more hesitant to commit time and money reading further content after one sentence read-throughs.


What is effective communication with an online audience?

Communication between bloggers and their audience is a critical component of all online marketing endeavors. Successful blogs will always have one thing in common: They will be able to engage their online readership and get their message across in a way that is interesting, relevant, and helpful for their target audience. Effective communication with an online audience will vary depending on the blog’s topic and audience.


However, there are a few key factors that will always remain an integral part of any successful blog experience.


Let’s discuss these factors in more detail:

  • The ability to keep the attention of your readers.
  • The ability for your audience to submit any type of feedback.
  • The ability for your readers to ask questions, offer comments, and ask for more content from you.
  • Continuity - Blogging is a fluid experience that changes with time.


Therefore, it’s important to understand that your blog may have different phases and may need to change a few of your tactics as you go along.


Why is having successful communication with an online audience so difficult?

It’s human nature to assume that the readers are right next to you; but in fact, the readers are scattered across the world. Therefore, it’s not possible to have a truly one-on-one relationship with them. You can’t see them, hear them, or touch them. Not only that, they have individual preferences, habits, and preferences that make them unique from others.


This can pose a large obstacle to bloggers because the readers are not robots; they are people who have thoughts and ideas of their own. Bloggers must be able to connect with them on an emotional level so that they will want to stay and read further.


Learn to recognize the signs of a bad audience

This is one of the most important steps that you can take to increasing your blog success. Before you begin blogging, you must first decide who your target readers are and what they are interested in. Once you have that information, you will be in a better position to identify bad readers.


Bad readers are readers who have no interest in your content and are instead using your blog for something else. They could be using your blog to get information about other topics, to find new blogs to follow, to try new articles before reading them in their own personal libraries, or to read tips and tricks that could be applied to their own lives. Bad readers will never create new fans for your brand or help you grow your business.


Ask yourself some easy questions to determine if your blog has a good or bad audience

Now that you’ve identified who your target readers are, you are in a much better position to determine if your audience has any bad habits associated with them.

  • Are the readers engaged with your content? - If you aren’t getting any comments, likes, shares, or other forms of engagement, that may be a sign that your readers are not interested in your content.
  • Do the readers all look like they are in their mid-20s? - If a large percentage of your readers are younger than you think they should be, then you may need to rethink the way that you are presenting your blog content.
  • Do the readers seem to all be in the same type of life situation that your blog is writing about? - In other words, is your blog solely about relationships? Or about finances, parenting, fitness, etc.? If so, you may want to rethink your topic choice.
  • Do the readers seem to be using your blog for research? - If readers are just reading and then closing your blog tab and moving on to another topic, then your blog will never gain any traction with this type of reader.


Create a persona (user profile) for every blog reader you find

While it’s important to keep track of who is reading your posts and what they are saying, it’s also important to remember that all of these online conversations are happening in the blogosphere. Blog readers are not just reading your content; they are also reading other people’s blog posts. You need to be aware that your content could be side-by-side compared to other blogs that you have never read before and will never read again.


You can do this by creating a user profile for every blog reader that you contact. This way, you can track all of the different characteristics, likes, dislikes, and other details about every new blog reader that you come across.


Some key ways you can improve your chances of success while blogging

Start writing your blog posts immediately after you have your topic figured out. It’s easy to get distracted when you have a social life and other projects that you need to get done. However, the more time you spend on your blog, the more likely you will be able to establish a consistent publishing schedule with high quality content. Another way to improve your chances of success is to keep track of your other online marketing activities.


For example, you can keep track of how many people you are bringing to your blog through social media posts and how many people you are bringing to your blog through email subscriptions. Keep track of your visitors and readers through online tracking tools. For example, Google Analytics is one of the most commonly used tools when it comes to tracking website traffic.
